Recent Activities

(1) Carrying out responsibility for the development, conservation and expansion of fishery resources


(2) Providing all possible technical assistance and support to private nursery owners for setting up hatcheries based on appropriate technology and producing quality fingerlings.


(3) Management of exhibition nursery operations and maintenance of data for production and exhibition of quality chicks


(4) Providing advice and training on science based fisheries to fish farmers


(5) Providing other technical assistance including project preparation to fish farmers/fishermen/shrimp farmers/entrepreneurs in obtaining bank loans.


(6) Survey and data collection


(a) Collecting information about the number and volume of all types of public (private) and private ponds, lakes, rivers, canals, bils etc. water bodies and storing them properly.


  (b) Collection of up-to-date information on fish farming activities in ponds, ponds, beels, banks, floodplains and paddy fields etc. at the private level and collection and proper storage of fish production data.


(c) Regular collection and preservation of fishery data collected from open water bodies, rivers, canals, floodplains etc.


(d) tracing of natural sources and extracting rain/water (where applicable) data and proper storage thereof;


(e) Total quantity, average size and weight and wholesale and retail selling price per kg of fish species wise by Random Sampling method by visiting the main fish landing centers/fish markets and markets. Collection and storage


(7) Implementation of biological management and conservation activities of water bodies under fisheries department project under water body management.


  (8) In the light of Fisheries Conservation Act 1950 and the subsequent amendments thereto, implementation of the Fisheries Conservation Act and storage of necessary information related thereto and transmission to the higher authorities.


(9) To play a key role in water resources management


(10) All information related to the number, size, location and location of carp/shrimp and other species of hatcheries operated at the private level should be collected, stored and registered in the light of hatchery policy.


  (11) Gathering information about any new fish species privately in the upazila level, if there will be any impact on biodiversity and its cultivation method, and informing the higher authorities immediately.


(12) Taking legal action by inspecting fish food shops and collecting samples to prevent adulteration and preserve the quality of fish products used in fish/shrimp farms.


  (13) Taking measures to conserve traditional species of fish/endangered species of fish by setting up ponds, wells etc.


  (14) Distributing the money allocated in the microcredit related projects (including completed projects) under implementation in the Department of Fisheries/Programme according to the government rules/policies and guidelines of the project and ensuring the system of collecting the loan money by ensuring the production of fish and other products of the specified target.


(15) Engagement and training of public representatives, beneficiaries, contractors, contractual labor groups in related development activities etc.
